Resumen - Jornadas de Captación de Talento - ERC
¿Quieres conseguir entre 1.5 y 2,5 millones de euros para realizar tu proyecto de investigación? ¿Tienes una idea ambiciosa que no puedes desarrollar con las condiciones actuales de financiación?
Si este es tu caso, desde la Oficina de Proyectos Internacionales queremos ayudarte a conseguir la financiación necesaria, a través del programa European Research Council (ERC). Para ello, hemos organizado una serie de sesiones que tendrán como objetivo hacerte entender qué busca el ERC y cómo preparar un proyecto con posibilidades de éxito.

Jornada Informativa – Oportunidades de financiación en el European Research Council (ERC)

Esta jornada se encuentra dirigida a todos los investigadores e investigadoras de la UGR que estén interesados en conocer el programa ERC y/o conseguir financiación a través de este programa para llevar a cabo un proyecto de investigación individual de temática abierta y en la frontera del conocimiento con una financiación de entre 1.5 y 2.5 millones de euros en 5 años.

Webinar 1/2: ERC 2021 Starting Grant Information and Proposal Writing Series

The UK Research Office (UKRO), in its capacity as UK National Contact Point for the Horizon 2020 European Research Council (ERC), is organising a two-part webinar series for researchers who are interested in applying for the 2021 ERC Starting Grant call. The Starting Grant call has a provisional submission deadline of 24 March 2021.
These webinars are intended to replace the NCP information events which usually take place in the UK.
Part 1/2 of the series, it will provide an initial overview of the European Research Council and what an ERC Starting Grant is, UK participation in the ERC, eligibility criteria and proposal development. 2 hour duration with a break midway.
There will be ample opportunity to ask questions during the webinars.
Attendance will be free of charge, but registration for each webinar is required.
The overall aim of this webinar series is to provide participants with detailed, practical information about the ERC Starting Grant scheme. Participants should gain a deeper understanding of the proposal format and the key issues they are required to address in planning, writing and costing a proposal. The Association of ERC grantees (AERG) is thrilled that Prof. Uğur Şahin will deliver the inaugural lecture for its “Science & Society” seminar series, which aims at promoting excellent bottom-up fundamental research for a better society and a better world.
Uğur Şahin is a professor of experimental oncology at the Johannes Gutenburg University Mainz and the CEO of BioNTech. He gained worldwide recognition for the historical development of the first COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, the “Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine”, which went from laboratory development to conditional approval within an unprecedentedly short eleven months. How was that possible? This amazing success stems from the essential fundamental and translational work previously carried out by Prof. Şahin, and funded in part by his ongoing European Research Council grant (SUMMIT). Prof. Şahin pioneered different breakthroughs enabling the development of mRNA vaccines and other types of immunotherapies against cancer and infectious diseases. To transform his concepts and findings into novel medicine, Prof. Şahin co-founded BioNTech — the company that he is now CEO of. Today, he is one of the world’s foremost experts on messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) medicines. Prof. Şahin received numerous awards, including the German Sustainability Award, the Mustafa Prize, and the German Cancer Award for his achievements.
In his lecture, Prof. Şahin will tell us about his scientific life, mixing his personal journey through science with the story of the key findings and achievements that led to the vital COVID-19 vaccine. This success illuminates the importance of fundamental scientific research and of the financial support of scientific excellence, as well as the translation of the ensuing discoveries into useful applied instruments for the well-being of our societies today and for their future tomorrow.
