The Strengthening International Research Capacity in Wales (SIRCIW) Fellowship Programme is a postdoctoral fellowship scheme part-funded by the European Commission under Horizon 2020’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions cofund scheme.

The programme will support up to 90 fellows to work at universities across Wales. The scheme is part of a strategy to increase research capacity in Stemm subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine). The programme is also open to researchers working in relevant areas of applied social science.

The fellowships provide a 3-year fixed-term postdoctoral level appointment, and are aimed at researchers with typically 3-5 years of postdoctoral experience who have not been resident in the UK for more than 12 months in the last three years.

The Welsh School of Architecture (Professor Wouter Poortinga) and the School of Psychology (Professor Wouter Poortinga or Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh) are open to applications from high-calibre candidates in any eligible area, which could include topics such as ‘people, energy and the built environment’, ‘risk, new technologies and the environment’, and ‘environmental behaviour’.

The next deadline for the SIRCIW/cofund fellowship programme is 04 october 2016. It is important that you have identified a potential supervisor, and have their support as host and supervisor (see LINK: business.wales.gov.uk/expertisewales/application-process -> http://businesswales.gov.wales/expertisewales/application-process). Projects should be described in no more than 12 pages using the available application form.
